You shall diligently keep the commandments of the Lord your God, His testimonies, and His statutes which He has commanded you.

Deuteronomy 6.17

God expects His children to be careful in their service to Him and in applying His justice to those in need. Therefore, we must do the Lord's work with love and mercy, so that no one is hurt or lost forever. The fact that we are empowered to preach the Word, heal the sick and free the oppressed does not make us superior to anyone. Let us be zealous for good (1 Peter 3.13).

Likewise, we must be diligent in giving people God's message, making sure that no one misunderstands God's will, and as for those who suffer the most, they will only get better if we are patient and zealous for good. Don't let yourself be carried away by a single negative or vengeful thought. Do the work entrusted to you according to the Lord's direction. Then you will be satisfied with the result (Romans 12:3-21).

Moses drew the Israelites' attention to the fact that when God spoke to them in the desert, they saw no likeness of Him, so they had to guard their souls so as not to fall into the error of carving images: Take care heed to yourselves, for you saw no form when the LORD spoke to you at Horeb out of the midst of the fire (Deuteronomy 4.15). Watch, believe and pray!!

Israel's deliverer, in human form, was used by the Lord to show the damage that spiritual deception does to people. When someone indulges in mysticism, they contaminate those around them: Then you shall inquire, search out, and ask diligently. And if it is indeed true, and certain that such an abomination was committed among you (Deuteronomy 13.14). Be careful with the Truth!

Joshua spoke about keeping the commandments diligently: But take careful heed to do the commandment and the law which Moses the servant of the LORD commanded you, to love the LORD your God, to walk in all His ways, to keep His commandments, to hold fast to Him, and to serve Him with all your heart and with all your soul (Joshua 22.5). Serve the Lord with dedication!

The housewife mentioned next by Jesus lost a valuable coin and worked hard to find the gift she had. The Master said that she did this diligently. Those who have grown cold due to the world's offerings should imitate her until they find what they have lost: Or what woman having ten silver coins, if she loses one coin, does not light a lamp, sweep the house, and search carefully until she finds it? (Luke 15.8). Keeping what you have is a divine commandment!

Paul praised the Corinthian brethren, saying that since they were diligent in everything God gave them, they should also be diligent in their offerings to the church: But as you abound in everything - in faith, in speech, in knowledge, in all diligence, and in your love for us - see that you abound in this grace also (2 Corinthians 8.7). God is faithful!

Today's Prayer

Beloved God! Without Your love, we cannot accomplish what You command us to. We need to be zealous in doing the work as Your Son did and gave us an example. Help us to be operators of Your will!

We want to know You and carry out Your purpose as Jesus taught us. To do this, we ask for the help of Your Holy Spirit. We must go where You send us and thank You for entrusting us with this work!

We mustn't miss the chance to truly serve You and not serve Your will alone. We have been called by You and chosen for this period on earth. These are difficult times, but with Your love, we will make it to the end!
