FOR THE SAKE OF THE WORKS

Believe Me that I am in the Father and the Father in Me, or else believe Me for the sake of the works themselves
John 14:11
In this verse, Jesus affirms that the works people saw Him perform during His ministry testified that He was in the Father and that those works were for the Father’s glory hence their importance. Christ first saw His Father doing these works, and we, in turn, must wait on Heaven and clearly understand the revelation that came from Christ’s lips. This is the point that will make our faith grow!
Meditate on this other statement from the Master: I can of Myself do nothing. As I hear, I judge; and My judgment is righteous, because I do not seek My own will but the will of the Father who sent Me. (John 5.30). Jesus spoke as He heard, and this encourages us to listen to and understand the Word of God. Nothing will come to us by chance, but rather if we understand the Scriptures and do as the Lord did.
In another verse, the Savior said that the Father showed Him everything He did. For the Father loves the Son, and shows Him all things that He Himself does; and He will show Him greater works than these, that you may marvel. (John 5.20). Now, Jesus came to teach us to do God's will perfectly. We need to walk in biblical understanding to discern what Christ shows us because He loves us!
“As the Father loved Me, I also have loved you; abide in My love. (John 15.9). From the lips of the Savior came this beautiful declaration that lifts us up and prepares us to do the same works He did. We need to understand how the Father's love worked in the Son so that, through the Holy Spirit, we may experience the same work of Christ within us. After all, God's love is the same. We must do the same works as Jesus did, and even greater ones (John 14:12).
We know that such understanding does not come from our own reasoning, but from the revelation of the Most High, which will make us go where Jesus went, so that we can perform divine wonders. This is the challenge to be overcome by the power of God's Spirit, as Zechariah said: So he answered and said to me: “This is the word of the Lord to Zerubbabel: ‘Not by might nor by power, but by My Spirit,’ Says the Lord of hosts - (Zechariah 4.6). He announces the future to us!
No matter how anxious we may be, we can do nothing on our own. Now, if we remain in the Son and His words remain in us, we will arrive where God desires (John 15:7). Nothing is impossible for those who believe: So Jesus said to them, “Because of your unbelief; for assuredly, I say to you, if you have faith as a mustard seed, you will say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move; and nothing will be impossible for you. (Matthew 17.20).
Some brothers in the past came close to doing the same works. As for us, we know nothing until the Spirit of the Lord opens the Word to us, and then, like Paul, we will say with confidence: I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me. (Philippians 4.13). When biblical understanding comes to you, be humble and let the Lord use you as He desires!
In Christ, with love,

Today's Prayer
Father, Creator and Sustainer! We must learn more from You, love Your Son, and serve You as You desire. We are children of Your love. We believe in Jesus because of the declarations of Your Word and His works. However, we need to know You more and better!
Jesus was in You, and we want Him to be in us, so that we may be one with You and with the Son, as He Himself prayed in John 17. We cannot stray from the right Path!
We need to do the works of the Master. In this way, we will demonstrate that Your love is in us. Help us to fulfill Your desire, to do Your will, and to give You the praise You deserve. We are grateful that You have saved us, called us, and sent us to fulfill Your purpose. Amen!
