Behold, He is coming with clouds, and every eye will see Him, even they who pierced Him. And all the tribes of the earth will mourn because of Him. Even so, Amen

Revelation 1.7

Among all the revelations in the Bible about the days to come, the return of Jesus is our greatest certainty. To learn about any subject, we need only to read through the Holy Book, for what God says is 100% certain and will never fail. The honor of Heaven would be at stake if Christ's return were canceled or did not happen. He will return as He promised (John 14:18).

Jesus will come with clouds of witnesses, which are the words of the heavenly Father about His Son, such as those heard after His baptism in the Jordan River: then a voice came from heaven, “You are My beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.” (Mark 1.11), as well as on the Mount of Transfiguration: and a voice came out of the cloud, saying, “This is My beloved Son. Hear Him!” (Luke 9.35). These testimonies are proof that Jesus is the Son of God and will soon come back.

One of the first prophecies concerning Christ's second coming to the world came from the mouth of the patriarch Jacob: The scepter shall not depart from Judah, nor a lawgiver from between his feet, until Shiloh comes; and to Him shall be the obedience of the people. (Genesis 49.10). The saved will see Jesus, for He will come to take us to the Father's house, where He is preparing a place for us: In My Father’s house are many mansions; if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. (John 14.2).

Christ’s return will be like that of thief; when no one expects. But know this, that if the master of the house had known what hour the thief would come, he would have watched and not allowed his house to be broken into. (Matthew 24.43). The apostle Peter confirmed: But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night, in which the heavens will pass away with a great noise, and the elements will melt with fervent heat; both the earth and the works that are in it will be burned up. (2 Peter 3.10).

The return of the Lord is awaited by the saved, but there will be weeping and despair for those who are placed on His left: “Then He will also say to those on the left hand, ‘Depart from Me, you cursed, into the everlasting fire prepared for the devil and his angels (Matthew 25.41). But those who are placed on the right will inherit the Kingdom of Heaven (Matthew 25:34). Prepare yourself to be approved by the Lord!

Imagine the agony that will overcome the Jewish priests who handed Jesus over to Rome to be judged and condemned to death! They knew that Christ was truly the Son of God, the Messiah promised by the prophets, and yet they plotted against Him. Those who questioned Him and condemned Him to die on the cross will also despair. No affliction will be equal to that which will reach the hearts of those who pierced Him. They could have believed in Jesus – for they knew who He was – but they rejected Him (John 1:11).

Those who strayed from the faith will cry out to be saved, but they will not succeed, because they despised all the warnings and the invitation to truthfully follow the Savior to the end. They were among us, but they preferred to go against the grain and make themselves vulnerable to enemy’s influence. Some lied from the altar so that the people would convert, while they themselves gave in to every temptation of the king of lies. Mercy!

In Christ, with love,

Today's Prayer

Lord of the second coming of Jesus! How can we not love You and dedicate our lives to You and Your work? Christ will return and take with Him those who fear You and are found faithful. But nothing will be sadder than seeing those called by You counted among the lost for having denied You.

On Your left will stand those who resisted the voice of Your Spirit and refused to turn to You, but leaned instead on the flesh. Your invitation has been refused thousands of times, and so they will despair.

That Day will be glorious for the saved! The faithful are certain that they will never be put to shame, for they wait continually for You. In their hearts, there is not the slightest doubt that they will go to their eternal Home with You. They have already passed from death to eternal life!
