Jesus reveals something very important to us in the parable of the lost sheep (Luke 15:3-7): our mission on Earth. For Him, every sinner who repents and is converted is His sheep. Therefore, when one is lost, we must leave the others in the desert, go in search of the one, and bring it back to the fold. The lessons of the Lord must be learned and practiced. Being the Master of all masters, He will guide us to find the lost sheep.

Let's remember that Jesus came into the world because of the great love that God had for humanity, which was lost because of Adam's sin (John 3:16). The coming of Christ brought us the hope of salvation; we just need to surrender ourselves to Him with all our hearts. Without the death of Jesus on the cross of Calvary, no one would be saved. Therefore, we need to go in search of the Lord's sheep as soon as possible. This is our sublime mission!

Man is not like the animals, who, upon dying, cease to exist. We were created in the image and likeness of the eternal God, having the same essence as the Lord (Genesis 1:26-28). We do not have to discuss the doctrines of religions nor give our support to this or that church. We need to proclaim what the Bible teaches so that the sheep that has strayed may run back into the arms of the Almighty.

Jesus said that it is necessary to leave the 99 sheep and go in search of the one that has strayed from the others. Upon finding it, our duty is to gently guide it back, so that it does not get hurt by any offense and does not get lost again in the labyrinths of the world. The Word says that God forgives our sins and no longer remembers them (Isaiah 43:25). Therefore, the Lord invited His friends to celebrate with Him its return (Luke 15:6).

The wisdom of the Most High is greater than that of men. These, upon seeing a sheep return to the fold, immediately start giving it moral lessons, without showing any pity. Well, everyone bears some responsibility when someone strays from the Path of Heaven. If the Word had been taught with love, and faith had not been mixed with human doctrines, the sheep would not have left the fold in search of worldly things.

Every sheep is innocent, easy prey for the enemy. When it strays, it cannot find its way back; therefore, the shepherd must go in search of it before it is devoured by a predator. We are responsible for the safety of all the sheep that the Supreme Shepherd has placed under our care. Why let the devil cause us losses, if Jesus keeps those whom the Father gave Him, and none are lost (John 17:12)?

When he was young, David was a shepherd of his family's sheep. One day, a lion prowled to try to catch one that was unprotected (1 Samuel 17:34-35). However, David kept watch to prevent that from happening. When the king of the animals pounced, the shepherd charged at him and killed him, freeing the sheep from his claws. Glory to God!
