Those who hate me without a cause are more than the hairs of my head; they are mighty who would destroy me, being my enemies wrongfully; though I have stolen nothing, I still must restore it.

Psalm 69.4

Today's message deals with situations that troubled David. They show us that the path of a servant of the Lord is not always free from the attacks of enemies. Satan takes advantage of the opportunities we give him to create all kinds of evil that will make our lives hell. In this Psalm, there are parts that speak of the Christ who would come to earth, and others that refer to David himself. But it was all written for our admonition. God is faithful!

The king saw no reason why some people should put pressure on him, causing him suffering. According to him, the number of those who annoyed him was more than the hairs on his head. When you feel like this, remember: the devil is behind your pain. After all, all problems are brought on by him. The secret to getting rid of the evil of the kingdom of darkness is to be part of the Kingdom of God and not accept any provocation.

The evil one knows how to make people feel oppressed and overwhelmed by issues that take away their peace. Be strong enough to live all that the Father has prepared for your life. Just as Laban spared Jacob, God will prevent your persecutors from trying anything against you: It is in my power to do you harm, but the God of your father spoke to me last night, saying, ‘Be careful that you speak to Jacob neither good nor bad.’ (Genesis 31.29).

The good person should not be surprised that some others try to destroy him, if the Most High declares that he will keep him from evil: The Lord shall preserve you from all evil; He shall preserve your soul. (Psalm 121.7). When you feel that something bad is about to happen to you or a family member, remember this promise and walk with your head held high. The devil can't get to you if you live the divine promise!

The evil one will always try to destroy your life, because he is your enemy. He can't touch you, but he can inflict on you the symptoms of a disease and make you think it's the end for you. Never pay attention to his lies. You are God's servant and you have been given the power to command him to beat a retreat (Luke 4.8), in the Name of Jesus!

The Bible contains a statement by Jesus about the devil and those who believe in him: You are of your father the devil, and the desires of your father you want to do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and does not stand in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaks a lie, he speaks from his own resources, for he is a liar and the father of it (John 8.44). Never think that the enemy has the power to harm you, because he is the great liar.

Today, we don't have to give back what we haven't stolen, but we must believe in the power that Jesus has given us over the wiles of the enemy: Behold, I give you the authority to trample on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy, and nothing shall by any means hurt you (Luke 10.19).

Today's Prayer

Lord of our protection! Sometimes we think that we won't be able to overcome the evil that rises up against us, seeming to have the capacity to annihilate us. But nothing from the kingdom of darkness can destroy us. After all, we are saved by Christ!

The number of adversaries may be great, but You will guard us with Your immeasurable power. We can't help but love You if You show us that the enemy will not afflict us. We thank You!

Why do some try to annihilate us if the Savior has already conquered Hell? Nothing and no one can touch us if we are under Your blessed protection. We must live the Truth, for it has given us the power to trample on the enemy's strength.
