Your statutes have been my songs in the house of my pilgrimage

Psalm 119.54

In Israel, in the past, there were people who sought help and guidance in God to free themselves from the attacks of their enemies. Many prophecies they heard turned into songs of faith, which made the Israelite people rise up against those who were evil and wanted to destroy them. Today, something similar happens to us. Numerous Psalms inspire songs. The revelations of the Word invigorate us as if they were a vitamin injection in the vein!

We do not know the authorship of Psalm 119. Some think it was David, but there are those who say it wasn't. How can one know, if the work was not signed? In fact, it doesn't matter, because the true Author is the Holy Spirit. He revealed that the psalmist made the statutes of the Most High his songs wherever he wandered. Do the same and be successful in everything (Psalm 1:1-3)!

When I read, in 1 Samuel 17, the prophet's account of David's encounter with Goliath, I am deeply moved. How could a young man who did not know the horrors of war have offered to fight against a giant, in order to prove that there was a God in Israel? David stood out compared to others of his time, even the experienced soldiers in battles. The son of Jesse faced Goliath trusting in the greatness of the one and true God, who would give him the victory (v. 45-47)!

If you obtain biblical courage, granted by God through meditating on His declarations, nothing will prevent you from doing the necessary work in our days. There is no reason to fear the enemy if we have the Lord as our Friend. After all, He has already said that we should trust in Him, for He who never sleeps or slumbers is with us and will protect us (Psalm 121:4,5). Be firm in your decision to face the challenges and overcome them!

I think Psalm 23 was one of David's favorites, and he always sang it, remembering that the Lord was his Shepherd and, therefore, he would lack nothing (v. 1). When we sing songs of faith and power, we are clothed with divine strength and, with a command, we make the devil retreat and confess that with us he cannot and never will. It is wonderful when our heart is full of the joy of the Lord, which is our strength (Nehemiah 8:10).

David did not fear the adversary nor any threat he made against him, because he knew that God had prepared a banquet for him in the presence of his enemies (Psalm 23:5). Who is the devil to defeat those who are grounded on the Rock? Do not feel incapacitated and powerless to face the evil attack. The Lord will do what is necessary for those who belong to the family of faith. Believe and move forward!

It doesn’t matter what problem arises to try to hinder your success. If you sing praises to the Most High amidst the struggles, you will have the strength to show who you are in Christ. Never embark on any battle without the Lord by your side. He will protect you and help you tremendously. Advance in your faith (Hebrews 12:1-2)!

Today's Prayer

Exalted Lord! The Psalms strengthen, invigorate and encourage us. They give us the certainty that You are at the forefront in our struggles, as You were with Your servants in ancient times, on pilgrimages. We want to “pilgrimage” in Your Word!

We desire the gift of poetry in speaking, praying and serving You, so that You may be glorified throughout the world. Save those who are far from the fold and without the anointing prepared for Your children!

It would be good if everyone living on Earth today were equal to those in Heaven, and their praises praised Your greatness! The preachers of the Gospel must do Your will, and not theirs, because for this we came to life in this time!
